BERLIN - The competition between the German budget online car rental companies Sixti, Navicar and InterRent is intensifying.
Sixti plans to expand into Italy this year. It has 12 locations in five countries: Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France and the UK.
Navicar is offering a car for rent at just 99 cents a day in a cut-price midweek deal. The snag is that customers must book three months in advance.
InterRent, the third main competitor in Germany's budget car rental sector, soon will extend its network to Munich and Frankfurt. The Europcar subsidiary opened two locations in Berlin in April and recently added outlets in Cologne and Hamburg.
