TOKYO – PSA/Peugeot-Citroen wants to increase its order to buy SUVs from Mitsubishi.
PSA signed an agreement last November to buy 30,000 SUVs annually from Mitsubishi starting in 2007. The SUVs will be Peugeot- and Citroen-badged versions of Mitsubishis Outlander medium SUV.
They are requesting additional volumes, Mitsubishi Motors President Osamu Masuko said.
Peugeot and Citroen will unveil their versions of the Outlander at the 2007 Geneva auto show.
SUV sales will continue to grow strongly in Europe, according to a study published last month by B&D Forecast of Germany.
About 989,000 SUVs were sold in western Europe last year. The number likely will reach nearly 1.3 million in 2010, B&D said.
