Roberto Ronchi has replaced Karl-Heinz Kalbfell as head of Fiat group's Maserati sports car brand.
Ronchi, 47, previously led Fiat Auto's fleet and sales network development. He will retain responsibility for automotive fleet sales, Fiat said.
Ronchi entered the auto business in 2002 as sales director for Maserati. In April 2005, he moved to Fiat Auto, which also is owned by Fiat group, to head dealer network development. Later he added responsibility for fleet sales.
Kalbfell will continue to work with Maserati for the next two months to assure a smooth transition. Kalbfell, 56, has had a short tenure with Fiat. In October 2004, he quit as CEO of BMW subsidiary Rolls-Royce to become head of Fiat Auto subsidiary Alfa Romeo. He started with Alfa in January 2005.
One month later, Kalbfell added the role of Maserati CEO.
By September 2005, his role was reduced to Maserati CEO and coordinator of Alfa Romeo and Maserati's future common projects. He was replaced as head of Alfa Romeo by Antonio Baravalle.
