Don't bet on Dieter Zetsche giving up anytime soon on either of his jobs as head of DaimlerChrysler or the Mercedes Car Group.
Zetsche recently told an analyst group: "At this point it is not my feeling to leave one job or the other," he said. "I have no plan on changing my scope of responsibility."
But in his dual roles, Zetsche gained perspective – and a little humor.
Asked if there are still bitter feelings about the 1998 merger of Germany's Mercedes and the US-based Chrysler group, Zetsche was candid.
He said: "There is more of an understanding that we're all together in one boat rather than, 'Look at those aholes [at Chrysler]. There goes our bonus.'"
