DETROIT - Ford Motor has added Continental to its preferred supplier list.
Ford plans to reduce the number of suppliers it uses for key auto parts.
Phase one of the program covers 20 key components – axles, brakes and seats, for example – that make up half of Fords $90 billion (about 70 billion) global purchasing buy.
Continental of Hanover, Germany, makes tires, brakes and chassis parts.
