Thomas Schmall will become CEO of Volkswagens Brazilian unit on January 1.
Schmall, 42, currently is VW Slovakia chairman. In Brazil, he will succeed Hans-Christian Maergner, who is retiring.
Maergner, 61, became head of VWs Brazilian operations in January 2004.
At the end of the year, former Austrian Chancellor Viktor Klima will take charge of VWs South American operations. Currently Klima, 59, is president of VW Argentina.
Klima became VW Argentina president in 2000. He was Chancellor of Austria from 1997 to 2000.
In other changes at Volkswagen group David Powels will become a managing director of VW of South Africa on January 1.
Currently Powels, 44, is management board member for finance and corporate strategy at VW Brazil.
Carsten Isensee, 46, takes Powels role at VW Brazil. At the moment, Isensee is in charge of finance at VWs South African unit.
