MUNICH -- Mark Rechtin has joined Automotive News Europe as a news editor. He will be based at ANE headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen, just outside Munich.
Rechtin, a US citizen, has worked as Los Angeles bureau chief for ANE sister publication Automotive News since 1993.
While in Los Angeles, he covered the US operations of the Asian automakers and Fords premium brands. He was editor of a 196-page special edition commemorating Toyotas 50 years in the US market. Between 2001 and 2002, he worked as a reporter for ANE in London.
At ANE, Rechtin will supervise the newspapers supplier and product coverage. He will also take on a range of other responsibilities as the publication continues to grow both in print and online.
Rechtin, 41, has won journalism awards for uncovering falsified sales reporting by Mitsubishi Motors US subsidiary, and for investigating dangerous working conditions at a TRW airbag assembly plant in the state of Arizona.
Rechtin has a bachelors degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
