PARIS -- PSA/Peugeot-Citroen has hired Mercedes-Benz sales executive Jean-Marc Gales to head the Citroen brand.
Gales, a 46-year-old citizen of Luxembourg, will take the helm at Citroen in March, the company said.
Gales replaces Gilles Michel, who left Citroen last December to manage the French government's new strategic investment fund.
PSA/Peugeot-Citroen said Gales will be nominated in mid-April to a seat on the French carmaker's five-person executive committee.
Currently, Gales is global sales director at Mercedes. He has held a range of management posts with Volkswagen, BMW and Opel.
