Porsche will use the Frankfurt auto show in September for the rollout of the new 911 Turbo in coupe and convertible versions.
Porsche released photos and details today on the newest 911. Here are the high points:
The new 3.8-liter flat-six engine is rated at 500 hp. The engine is fitted with direct fuel injection and a variable vane turbocharger for more boost at lower engine rpm.
The seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission is an option, which comes with a three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles.
The Sport Chrono package includes displays for the launch control and sport/sport plus modes integrated into the steering wheel.
Porsche says the new 911 Turbo will go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. Top speed is 194 mph. Yet the 911 Turbo won't get hit with a gas-guzzler tax in the United States, Porsche says.
The new 911 goes on sale in Germany in late November.
