BERLIN - Germany's scrappage scheme has helped Weller Group, Germany's fifth biggest dealer group, toward a record year.
Managing director Burkhard Weller already considers the current year to be the most successful in the history of the group.
He said the scrappage bonus has boosted the group's balance sheet, adding that any dealer who didn't make money from the bonus "cannot be helped."
Weller Group sells Volkswagen, BMW and Toyota cars. This year the company expects to sell about 20,000 new cars and 27,000 used vehicles.
The German government offered buyers 2,500 euros ($3,700) to swap old cars for new models in a program that ran from February to September. Helped by the incentive, Germany's new-car sales rose by 25.9 percent to 3.31 million in the first 10 months, compared with the previous year.
