NUREMBERG - Ford Motor Co.'s German dealers will get upfront payments to carry out accident repairs under a new system.
The system will speed up the processing of accident damage claims and help dealers' liquidity during the current difficult economic climate.
Under a new agreement between Ford, its German dealers and the HUK Coburg Insurance Group, estimates for accident repairs will be processed electronically.
Once HUK Coburg has accepted an estimate, the insurer will advance a third of the repair cots as a pre-payment after the estimate is accepted.
The new process is now being tested in seven pilot dealerships in Germany.
