MUNICH -- Volkswagen AG has appointed Audi CEO Rupert Stadler and VW brand sales chief Christian Klingler to its management board.
Stadler, 46, and Klingler, 41, will join the board effective January 1.
Stadler will join the board in his capacity as chairman of Audi's management board, VW said. He keeps his role as Audi CEO.
Stadler, born in Bavaria, Germany, joined Audi in 1990, rising through various sales, marketing and accounting roles with VW group to become Audi CEO in 2007.
Klingler will become head of VW group sales, replacing Detlef Wittig, 67, who will assume responsibility for managing the group's international investment projects.
Klingler will keep his present post as head of VW brand sales, marketing and after sales.
Austrian-born Klingler joined VW last year from dealer group Porsche Holding, where he built up the group's sales activities in France with the PGA Group, which is owned by Porsche Holding.
