MUNICH -- German forging specialist Hirschvogel Automotive Group has formed a joint venture in Poland with Kotani Corp. of Japan.
With a 66 percent share, Hirschvogel Automotive parent Hirschvogel Holding GmbH is the majority shareholder in the joint venture, which will be called Hirschvogel Kotani Poland.
The company will be located in a newly built industrial area in Gliwice, which is about 100km west of Krakow. The partners will produce warm and combined warm/cold forgings at the factory.
Kotani, which is based in Kasai City, Japan, west of Osaka, reported sales of about 117 million euros (about $168.4 million) in 2008. Its customers include Japanese Tier 1 suppliers Aisin Seiki Co. Ltd., JTEKT, and NSK Ltd.
Hirschvogel had sales of more than 500 million euros in 2008. Its customers include Volkswagen AG, BMW AG and General Motors Co.
