Audi, Volkswagen, Opel, BMW and Ford all plan key launches in 2010 as European automakers hope a host of new product launches will minimize an expected huge decline in new-car sales.
French carmakers Renault, Peugeot and Citroen aim to boost unit sales and revenue by spinning new niche sporty cars such as the Peugeot 308 RCZ off volume platforms.
Peugeot and Citroen also will test demand for zero-emission vehicles with the November market launch of city electric cars based on Mitsubishi's i-MiEV.
Industry watchers forecast that sales will slump by at least 1 million units in western Europe this year compared with 2009, as a continuing weak economy and a hangover from the last year's scrappage bonus hit sales.
