Aston Martin made a profit in 2009, CEO Ulrich Bez said. Bez declined to give further details about the size of the profit.
Aston Martin thus performed better than many of its rivals in the hotly contested market for high-performance sports cars.
With help from new models such as its Cygnet microcar and the attractively styled Rapide, the brand is planning on significant growth.
"We sold 4,000 cars in 2009, and we want to sell 5,500 to 6,000 in 2010," Bez (pictured) told Automotive News Europe sister publication Automobilwoche. "The Rapide, in particular, is starting off well."
The brand sold 5,800 cars in 2008. Last year, the economic crisis hit sales of the brand, which is in vogue among London investment bankers.
"We can't talk about a great recovery in the market for luxury cars," Bez said. "All told, I believe that the situation won't be worse than in 2009, however."
