MUNICH -- Joachim Milberg, BMW supervisory board chairman, is assuming an honorary professorship in the engineering faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
The former BMW CEO will be officially named to the post on July 8.
The university plans to benefit from Milberg's store of knowledge and experience, especially in light of new challenges such as electric vehicles.
Milberg, 66, taught at Munich University of Technology as a professor of machine tools and management science for 12 years.
He is the founding president and an executive board member of the Germany Academy of Science and Engineering.
