SHANGHAI -- BYD Auto Co. will display five new gasoline models at the Beijing auto show later this month.
The five new models are the L3 and I6 compact sedans, M6 minivan, G6 full-sized sedan and the S6 SUV, a spokesperson of the company confirmed to Automotive News China.
These new models will be priced higher than BYD's existing products which are mostly sold for below 80,000 yuan ($11,713). They will go on sale after the Beijing auto show, which runs from April 23 to May 2.
In addition to these new models, BYD also will show its existing gasoline-powered models, the F6, F3 and F0 and G3 -- and three alternative-energy vehicles including the F3DM and F6DM plug-in hybrids and the e6 full-electric vehicle.
Power by BYD's own lithium ion battery pack, the carmaker claims that the e6 has a range of 300km (about 186 miles) and a top speed of 160kph (about 100 mph).
BYD sold 445,097 cars in 2009, all gasoline models. The company aims to boost its sales to 800,000 units this year.
