Robert Bosch GmbH plans to expand a U.S. plant in Dorchester County, South Carolina, to produce diesel and gasoline fuel injectors, antilock brakes and electronic stability control systems.
The $125 million expansion will add 300 jobs. Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2011.
The plant, which has operated since 1974, currently employs 1,500 workers.
Bosch, whose U.S. headquarters are in suburban Detroit, produces injectors, fuel systems, brakes, chassis components and other parts.
Bosch ranks 6th on Automotive News' list of the top 150 North American suppliers, with estimated sales to automakers in North America of $3.33 billion in 2009.
