Hyundai Motor Corp. has promoted marketing expert Allan Rushforth to chief operating officer and senior vice president for the company's European operations.
Hyundai said Rushforth has overseen a period of strong, sustained growth for the brand in Europe, delivering ambitious sales targets, as well as improving in customer satisfaction and dealer profitability in what the company calls its most important global region.
Rushforth joined Hyundai Europe as vice president in 2007 and was named Sales and Marketing Eurostar in Automotive News Europe's 2010 Eurostar awards.
Hyundai is set to register its best ever annual sales in Europe for 2010, with more than 330,000 units sold between January and November, according to data from the ACEA, the European automakers association, The brand has a European market share of 2.6 percent.
Chang-Kyun Han, Hyundai Motor Europe president, said Rushforth's contribution to helping Hyundai become a major player in Europe "cannot be overstated."
Rushforth, an Englishman, has 25 years experience in the auto business including spells with Rover, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen. He was also responsible for the launch and operation of Land Rover in Korea.
