Mazda will unveil the Minagi compact crossover concept at the Geneva auto show in March. The concept will showcase the automaker's new design theme, which it calls Kodo, or "Soul of Motion."
The four-door SUV-styled concept previews a new entry-level SUV for the brand. The production model is expected to be called the CX-5 when it is unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
Mazda said the Minagi's Kodo design "evokes a powerful and emotive sense of pent-up energy and vitality - helping the vehicle stand out in a sprawling urban cityscape."
The concept previews Mazda's next-generation products and symbolizes the evolution of the brand for a new era, the Japanese automaker said in a press statement.
The concept also highlights Mazda's fuel-efficiency and lightweight technologies that the company is grouping under the name SkyActiv. The technologies will enhance the brand's future products in nearly all areas, including engine, transmission and chassis.
Mazda's Shinari design concept car will have its European debut at the Geneva show.
