SEOUL -- LG Chem Co. Ltd., South Korea's biggest chemicals maker, plans to spend 2 trillion won ($1.8 billion) on making electric-car batteries by 2013. The company, which plans to make batteries for Hyundai Motor Co., General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp., completed the construction of its plant in Ochang, South Korea with a capacity to produce batteries for 100,000 vehicles annually, LG Chem said in a regulatory filing Thursday.
