Renault SA has chosen Francois Provost, the former chief operating officer of Renault Russia, as CEO of its subsidiary Renault Samsung Motors.
He replaces Jean-Marie Hurgier, who had been head of the Korean subsidiary since 2006.
After graduating as an engineer, Provost started his career as senior civil servant in the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, before joining the Ministry of Defense.
In 2002, he joined Renault and worked in a number of senior managerial positions including branch general manager of sales and marketing and regional director of Renault in Bordeaux.
In 2005, he was appointed managing director of the Renault-Nissan alliance in Portugal, before spending two years as head of Renault worldwide sales and marketing strategy and planning. In 2010, he was promoted to COO at Renault Russia.
