Daimler AG plans to name a new CEO for Mercedes-Benz USA within the next few days, according to a company source.
The source declined to provide further details or say whether the new CEO would come from Germany or be appointed from within the ranks of Mercedes-Benz USA.
Daimler fired Mercedes-Benz USA chief Ernst Lieb unexpectedly on Monday. He was dismissed for violating the company's ethics policy and misuse of corporate expenses, the source said.
Lieb, 56, had been in the post for just over five years and was a Daimler veteran for more than 30 years.
Daimler appointed Herbert Werner, 56, as an interim CEO. Werner has been the U.S. subsidiary's CFO and vice president for finance and information technology since Feb. 2009.
