ISTANBUL – Turkey's Ford Otosan predicts total vehicle sales in the Turkish automotive market of 850,000 units for 2012, in line with 2011 sales of 864,439 vehicles.
Ford Otosan, a joint venture between Ford and Koc Holding, will start building a new factory in the first quarter to produce light commercial vehicles with an annual production capacity of 110,000 units, general manager Nuri Otay also told a news conference on Thursday.
The factory investment is expected to cost about 205 million euros and create 1,000 jobs, Otay added.
The company expects to produce 288,000 Transits and Transit Connects this year, fewer than the record 296,000 it built in 2011.
Otay said that in 2012 Ford aims to export 212,000 vans and sell 128,000 cars and vans in Turkey.
