LONDON -- British sports car maker Morgan will unveil an electric version of its retro-styled roadster with a manual transmission at the Geneva auto show next month.
The rare combination is the work of UK-based engineering firm Zytek, which supplies the drivetrain for the Plus E. "If there is enough public interest, it will go into production," a Zytek spokesman said.
"This is an exciting investigation into the potential for a zero-emissions Morgan with near supercar performance," said Steve Morris, Morgan's operations director, in a statement.
The low-volume maker will also show the firm's new Plus 8 roadster powered by a 4.8-liter BMW V8 engine and available with manual and automatic transmissions.
The company will also show the Aero Coupe, which uses the same BMW engine with an all-aluminum construction to cut weight to 1175 kg.
