RENSCHEID, Germany -- German supplier Edscha has begun construction of a 9,000 square-meter factory in the south Chinese city of Kunshan to produce hinges.
The plant, located 60 kilometers northwest of Shanghai, will launch production next spring. The company will invest 37 million euros (296 million yuan) to build the facility, which initially will employ 200 workers.
In Asia, the company has four plants in China, and one each in Japan and Taiwan. Edscha employs 4,400 workers worldwide and generated sales of 695 million euros (5.6 billion yuan).
