Former Mitsubishi Europe boss Tim Tozer was today named head of General Motors Co.'s UK-based Vauxhall brand.
Tozer, 54, succeeds Duncan Aldred, who is moving to Detroit as U.S. vice president of sales and marketing for GM's Buick and GMC brands.
Tozer, a British national, has a proven track record in senior management positions within the motor industry across Europe, Vauxhall said in a statement.
Tozer will head the UK's No. 2 brand.
Most recently, Tozer was CEO of Autobinck Holding, a Dutch dealer group. Prior to that his jobs included CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, head of Mazda in the UK and regional director at UK dealer group Inchcape Motors International.
Tozer will take up the new post on Feb. 24.
Vauxhall was the UK's second best-selling brand after Ford in 2013. Vauxhall's car sales rose 12 percent to 259,444 last year for a market share of 11.4 percent. Ford's sales increased by 10 percent to 310,865 for a share of 13.8 percent, according to the SMMT industry association.
