Several suppliers contributed to the Octavia’s HVAC system. The blowers are supplied by Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH; the climate control unit comes from Behr-Hella Thermocontrol GmbH; and the air conditioning lines are supplied by both ContiTech AG and TI Automotive.
The car’s climate system manages the interior temperature of the cabin via a two-zone control based on air quality, sun and humidity sensors. The sun sensor measures the direction and intensity of the sun's rays. The air quality sensor does as its name suggests. The humidity sensor helps the system know when to turn off the air conditioner compressor, which helps save fuel.
Production of the new Octavia began in December 2012 at the automaker’s plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. Output at the factory will peak at more than 150,000 units in 2014, according to IHS Automotive production forecasts.
