Delphi supplies the injectors to the new Peugeot 308’s gasoline direct-injection engine, which produces a low of 107 grams of CO2 per kilometer compared with 144g/km from the previous generation’s most-efficient gasoline powerplant.
Delphi says the injector’s acoustic noise is 1 decibel lower than the previous best-in-class injector.
Power in the new 308's 1.2-liter gasoline engine is boosted by the addition of a Honeywell turbocharger. The engine offers either 110 hp or 130 hp and replaces the previous-generation 1.4- and 1.6-liter gasoline units that offered 98 hp and 120 hp, respectively.
The turbocharger for the 1.6-liter gasoline engine is supplied by BorgWarner.
Peugeot began 308 production at its factory in Sochaux, France, last June. Output is forecast to peak at more than 200,000 units in 2015, according to IHS Automotive.
