FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- Daimler will extend the contract of the head of its China division, Hubertus Troska, according to a German newspaper report.
The supervisory board will extend his contract at its February meeting, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung said, without naming sources.
A Daimler spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
Troska's contract was due to expire in 2015, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung said. He joined Daimler in 1988 and was tasked in 2012 with boosting the company's struggling China operations.
Daimler remains optimistic about sales growth in China in 2015 after sales of its Mercedes-Benz Cars unit, which includes Smart, increased 30 percent there to a record 281,588 in 2014.
