Fiat Chrysler named Ralph Gilles, its chief designer in the U.S., as head of design.
Gilles, 45, succeeds Lorenzo Ramaciotti, who is retiring. Ramaciotti will continue to lend his expertise to the group, serving as a special adviser to CEO Sergio Marchionne, the company said in a statement.
Gilles was also named to the automaker's group executive council, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' highest decision-making body.
Gilles is a graduate of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and former head of the Dodge and SRT brands as well as motorsports. He was born in New York City and joined Chrysler in 1992.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also named Mauro Fenzi as its chief operating officer for systems, as well as CEO of subsidiary Comau. Fenzi replaces Riccardo Tarantini, who the company said will remain as COO for castings.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
