Nissan has promoted company veteran Jean-Pierre Diernaz to its new Europe marketing head.
Diernaz led the launch of the automaker’s Leaf electric car in Europe as the brand's European product marketing manager.
He joined Nissan from Ford Motor in 2005 and has held senior positions in marketing and product marketing at Nissan and its luxury unit Infiniti.
Diernaz started his new role on Jan. 1. He succeeds Bastien Schupp, who moves to Nissan's alliance partner, Renault, as head of global marketing communications.
Diernaz will be based at Nissan’s European headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland, and will report to Guillaume Cartier, Nissan Europe's sales and marketing chief.
