Figures published by the KBA federal motor transport authority on Tuesday showed varying fortunes for Volkswagen Group's brands in Germany last month. Sales of the core VW brand, which has been worst hit by the company's admission that it rigged diesel engines in up to 11 million vehicles sold worldwide, fell 6.3 percent, while Porsche's volume slumped 12 percent.

In contrast, Skoda sales rose 5.3 percent while Seat's registrations were up 6.5 percent. VW Group's luxury Audi unit had a sales gain of 10 percent.
Rival Opel's German car sales rose 1.2 percent while registrations of Ford vehicles jumped 3.5 percent.
