The latest collaboration of Aston Martin and the Italian coachbuilder Zagato -- the Vanquish Zagato Concept -- stole the show last month at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como in Italy.
Design of the supercar concept, which may or may not go into production, was led by Aston chief creative officer Marek Reichman and Zagato CEO Andrea Zagato. Vehicle development and engineering were done at Aston's headquarters in Gaydon, England.
The bodywork features large pieces of carbon fiber. The taillights evoke classic Zagato design, while the wing mirrors are inspired by the One-77, a limited edition Aston coupe that debuted at the 2008 Paris auto show. The rear end gets cues from Aston's new DB11.
The Vanquish Zagato also features a retractable spoiler, rear luggage hatch and quad exhaust. As with Zagatos of the past, the new concept gets a wraparound windshield and a side strake that runs from the wheel arches to the doors. The roof has the "double bubble" shape, also a hallmark of earlier Aston-Zagato collaborations.
