Sabine Scheunert, 41, started in the new position on July 1.
STUTTGART -- Daimler has hired a former Citroen executive to run a new department focused on technology sales and marketing as the automaker looks to beef up its digital presence at Mercedes-Benz.
Sabine Scheunert, 41, began leading IT Marketing & Sales on July 1 for the Mercedes unit, according to Automobilwoche, a sibling publication of Automotive News Europe. Previously, she had been Citroen’s China chief -- the first woman in that role.
Scheunert will report to Mercedes sales chief Ola Kellenius and IT chief Jan Brecht, who joined Daimler in November after working at Adidas.
The department includes IT sales and marketing, IT global services and parts and IT sales regional teams, including China. It’s expected to launch on August 1.
Scheunert held sales and marketing roles during her tenure with BMW Group. In 2013, the Generation CEO initiative named her one of its “Executives of the Year.”
