Audi has appointed Jing Qingchun, an executive with parent Volkswagen Group's joint venture partner China FAW Group Corp., to be executive vice president of its sales unit in China, effective Sept. 1.
Jing has been sales head of FAW's Jiefang truck brand since 2013. From 2007 to 2009, he was vice general manager for the sales company of FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co.
Jing will report to Michael-Julius Renz, president of Audi's China sales unit. Renz was dispatched to the unit by Volkswagen Group.
Ge Shuwen, the current executive vice president of Audi's sales unit in China, will return to FAW as deputy chief of the state-owned automaker's sales and marketing department.
Audi has long been China's top luxury brand, but over the past two years it has steadily lost market share to Mercedes-Benz.
In the first seven months of this year, Audi's China sales increased 6.5 percent year on year to 335,580 vehicles. Over that same period, Mercedes sales jumped 32 percent to 257,276 vehicles, while BMW deliveries rose 8.5 percent to 287,753 vehicles.
