Former General Motors chief Rick Wagoner, who introduced the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid during his last year as CEO, is promoting vehicle electrification once again.
ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network, said Thursday that Wagoner is joining its board.
Wagoner brings to ChargePoint “an acute awareness of the importance of e-mobility in the future of transportation,” the Campbell, California, company said in a statement.
Wagoner’s appointment is effective immediately. He fills a new seat on the board, which now has nine members, including Axel Harries, who was recently added and runs Daimler’s new CASE connected and autonomous car unit. ChargePoint operates more than 33,800 independently owned charging stations globally.
Wagoner “has accumulated a deep level of industry experience overseeing the development of some of the most iconic automotive products while tackling big challenges in business,” said Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint.
