Land Rover and Range Rover design chief Gerry McGovern will be among the speakers at the Automotive News Europe Congress in Barcelona on June 21.
In March, McGovern unveiled the highly acclaimed Velar SUV at the Geneva auto show.
McGovern's early career took in stints at Chrysler, Peugeot and Rover Group, where he was lead designer of the iconic MGF rear-engine roadster, Land Rover Freelander and third-generation Range Rover.
After a spell at Ford Motor as head of Lincoln-Mercury, McGovern returned to the UK to run a design consultancy in London before re-joining Land Rover in 2004 as director of advanced design. He was appointed Land Rover Design Director in 2006, becoming a member of the Land Rover management board in 2008 and a member of the Jaguar Land Rover executive committee in 2009.
McGovern has overseen a new generation of Land Rovers and Range Rovers focused on design. The process began with the highly successful Range Rover Evoque and was followed-up with the all-new Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery Sport and Discovery.
McGovern's latest creation, the Velar, will go on sale globally in July, giving Range Rover its first midsize SUV.
