Volkswagen Group named former Hyundai executive Jochen Sengpiehl as head of marketing for its VW passenger cars brand.
Sengpiehl, 50, will take up the post on Sept. 1, VW said in a statement, confirming an Automotive News Europe report in May that VW had recruited the veteran executive to help polish VW brand's image.
Sengpiehl succeeds Xavier Chardon, who moves to Beijing to lead VW's Digitalization China Project House.
Sengpiehl held the VW brand marketing post from 2006 to 2009. He started his career in 1995 with Nissan in the Netherlands and has worked for BBDO and DaimlerChrysler during his career. Sengpiehl was Hyundai Europe's marketing chief from 2014 until this year.
