FRANKFURT -- Audi will invest 120 billion forints ($320.2 million) to ramp up electric motor production at its Gyor factory in western Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, the country's foreign minister, said.
Szijjarto said Audi would start manufacturing the new drivetrains in 2025, adding 500 jobs at the plant.
Audi did not respond to a request for comment when contacted by Automotive News Europe.
Audi started engine production at Gyor in 1994, before adding electric motor output in 2018. Now the premium brand is joining rivals in taking more electric drivetrain production in-house as automakers make the move away from combustion engines.
