Lamborghini increased sales of the Urus more than 50 percent in June.

Lynk & CO, Genesis, Bugatti and MG had quadruple- or triple-digit sales gains in June. Meanwhile Cupra, Polestar, Lamborghini, Bentley, Maserati, Dacia and Porsche had double-digit percentage increases in an overall European market that was down by 17 percent.

Volvo's subscription-focused brand, Lynk & CO, had a strong month with 1,630 registrations of its 01 plug-in hybrid, up from just 108 last year as it was just entering the market.

Hyundai Group luxury brand Genesis was up more than 560 percent to 253 registrations compared with just 38 during June 2021, also because it was just starting to enter the market.

MG more than doubled sales, up 116 percent, to 9,561. This was driven by a 221 percent increase in sales of the MG HS compact SUV.

Also among the 24 brands that recorded gains during the month were Rolls-Royce, Alfa Romeo and Aston Martin, according to preliminary figures from market researcher Dataforce (information from some markets was not available at publication time).

Prolonged supply-chain disruptions as well as rising prices and falling consumer confidence were among the reasons for the region's sales decline.

Cupra's June sale rose 78 percent, helped by strong demand for the Formentor, shown.

Cupra was up 78 percent, helped by strong demand for the Formentor SUV, which is now among the top 10-selling compact SUVs in Europe because of an 86 percent gain in volume to through six months.

Maserati increased June registrations 53 percent, helped by brisk demand for the Levante SUV.

Dacia was up 31 percent led by a 28 percent sales increase for the Duster small SUV.

Other brands that gained volume were Rolls-Royce (+48 percent), Alpine (+34 percent), Porsche (+18 percent) and Aston Martin (+6.4 percent).

Brands that recorded declines but still beat the market included Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Nissan, Land Rover and Tesla, which was down 15 percent.
