The Toyota Corolla was the top-selling vehicle in Finland, Ireland and Latvia during the first 10 months.

Toyota models were the top-sellers in five European markets during the first 10 months, down from eight in the first half, with the Corolla compact finishing No. 1 in Finland, Ireland and Latvia.

The Corolla has slipped to No. 2 in Poland behind the Skoda Octavia.

The RAV4 compact SUV led the way in Estonia while the Yaris small hatchback was tops in Greece.

After six months this year Toyota led in Lithuania, but it has been overtaken there by the Fiat 500, leaving the RAV4 at No. 2 and the Corolla at No. 3 in the market.

Meanwhile, the C-HR compact crossover lost its top standing in Cyprus during the January-October period, slipping to No. 3 behind the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Stonic, according to figures from market researcher JATO Dynamics.

Overall, Toyota models finished among the top five-sellers in nine European markets through 10 months.

Elsewhere, the Skoda Octavia was No. 1 in four markets and the Volkswagen Golf led in two through October.

The Octavia was the leader in Austria, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, and ranked No. 2 in Finland and Slovakia.

The Golf was tops in Germany and Belgium, and No. 2 in Austria, Luxembourg and Norway.

A vehicle to watch is the new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, which was No. 2 in the UK, No. 6 in Germany and No. 4 in the Netherlands after 10 months.

The Clio was No. 1 in France and Portugal and No. 2 in Belgium.

Other vehicles of note during the first 10 months were the Suzuki Vitara, which was the leader in Hungary; the Kia Niro, which was No. 1 in the Netherlands; and the full-electric Audi e-tron, which continued to hold a commanding lead in EV-friendly Norway.

The full-electric Tesla Model 3 ranked second in Switzerland and sixth in Norway during the 10-month period.
