The passenger car side of the business was boosted by demand for the Ford Focus, which finished the month as the No. 14 seller, according to data from market researcher JATO Dynamics.
FCA, which rose by 185 percent, claimed three spots in the market's Top 25 sellers for September, starting with the market leader, the Fiat Egea family of cars. The automaker also got a big lift from its commercial vehicle unit with the Fiat Doblo van and Fiat Fiorino/Qubo vans finishing the month at No. 6 and No. 9, respectively.
Renault-Nissan was up 103 percent for the month because of big gains for its namesake brands and Dacia. The Renault Clio small car finished the month as Turkey's No. 2-seller and the automaker's Megane compact was No. 5. Nissan was led by the Qashqai compact SUV at No. 8 while the Dacia Duster small crossover finished the month at No. 18.
PSA boosted sales 144 percent in September because of a 340 percent gain for its DS brand; a 254 percent increase for Citroen, led by the C3 small car; and a 215 percent gain for Opel on strong demand for the Corsa subcompact and Astra compact.
