The Dacia, Opel, Renault, Suzuki and Toyota brands increased August sales in Turkey by triple- or double digit percentages. Those gains, however, couldn't stop the overall market from declining by 11 percent.
Dacia increased sales by 113 percent in August because of strong demand for its Duster small SUV, which accounted for 60 percent of the brand's overall sales and finished 10th in the country's ranking of 25 top-sellers.
Opel was up 86 percent on brisk sales of the Astra compact, which finished August at the No. 18 seller in the country. according to data from market researcher JATO Dynamics.
The Renault brand rose 56 percent helped by the Megane compact and Clio small car, which held the No. 2 and No. 4 spots in August sales.
