Stewart Callegari, 35
Regional Product Manager - C, D platform & Sports cars, Nissan
TITLE: Regional Product Manager - C, D platform & Sports cars
BASED: Rolle, Switzerland
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Promoted in April to brand power manager after spending about three and a half years as Nissan's European region product manager for models such as the Qashqai. From 2007 until 2010, he was product manager for the Pathfinder SUV and Navara pickup lines. He started at Nissan in 2003 as a marketability engineer, working at the company's technical center in Cranfield, England.
REASON FOR WINNING: Callegari successfully overcame the tough challenge of making the second-generation Qashqai even better than the original model, which has been Nissan's No. 1 seller in Europe for years. Callegari and his team made the new car longer and wider while reducing its height. This makes it look sleeker while also improving drag coefficient, which reduces fuel use. Nissan also moved the new Qashqai upscale by adding high-tech features such as two systems that help with parking. The upgrades helped the Qashqai easily maintain its place as Europe's best-selling crossover during the first half.
