Skoda teases look of new Elroq EV ahead of debut next month

The new Skoda Elroq full-electric compact SUV will be the brand's first model with its Modern Solid design language, the Volkswagen Group subsidiary said.

Skoda teased the look of the new car in sketches showing the new design with its slimmed-down “Tech Deck” front grille, narrow digital driving lights and Skoda lettering on the leading edge of the hood.

The rear, meanwhile, features a prominent roof spoiler and slimmer LED tail lights.

The Elroq will be unveiled Oct. 1 ahead of deliveries starting in late spring 2025, the company said.

The Elroq is 4500 mm long, positioning it below the Enyaq midsize SUV to give Skoda an electric alternative to its Karoq compact SUV.

The Elroq derivative with the longest range will have an 82-kilowatt-hour battery pack that promises “more than” 560 km (348 miles) of driving per charge, according to Skoda.

Shorter-range Elroq variants will be available with either a 55- or 63-kWh battery.

The Elroq will compete against models such as the Renault Scenic E-Tech, Peugeot e-3008 and Ford Explorer.

The Elroq will be built on the VW Group's MEB platform that underpins all electric models from the automaker's volume brands, as well as the Q4 from premium brand Audi. It is also used in the Explorer under an agreement with Ford.

Inside, the compact SUV has a 13-inch central touchscreen, while the driver receives additional info from a 5.3-inch instrument screen.

The Elroq will offer 470 liters of trunk space with up to 1,580 liters when the rear seats are folded down, Skoda said. The cabin offers a further 48 liters of storage space.

Optional features on the Elroq include a new pocket for storing a charging cable and an adjustable parcel shelf for the trunk.

The Elroq is the first of four new electric cars Skoda plans to launch in the next few years.

The compact SUV will be followed by the Epiq, a 4100-mm long small SUV that is due in 2025 and is expected to have a starting price of €25,000.

The third model is an electric midsize wagon due in 2026 that will sit alongside the brand's compact Octavia, Europe's best-selling wagon, and bigger Superb.

The fourth model is the production version of the Vison 7S, a 4900 mm SUV with a seven-seat option. The Vision 7S concept previewed the Modern Solid design look when it debuted in 2022.
