Peugeot HX1 concept
Peugeot's six-seat concept car hints at a new range-topping model tentatively planned to step into the French carmaker's fold as a replacement for the 607, which ended production at the end of 2010.
Called the HX1, the four-door luxury car is being used to showcase Peugeot's latest design lineage while providing a platform for new ideas under a project it calls "metamorphosis." The HX1 is powered by Peugeot's diesel-electric Hybrid4 system , currently offered on the 3008 and also earmarked for the 508RXH. It consists of a 204-hp, 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that powers the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox, and a 95-hp brushless electric motor that draws energy from a plug-in lithium-ion battery pack and drives the rear wheels via a single electric motor-- a combination that effectively provides the HX1 with four-wheel drive.
