PARIS -- Peugeot has given the 5008 midsize SUV a midcycle face-lift that focuses on the driving experience, with more-sophisticated assistance features and a larger central screen.
The 5008 morphed from a minivan into an SUV when it was redesigned in 2017, although it remains available with seating for seven. The 5008 ranked second in the midsize SUV segment in Europe in 2019, with 76,791 sales, trailing only the Skoda Kodiaq at 90,202 sales, according to figures from JATO Dynamics. It held the same position in the first half of 2020, with 24,838 sales to the Kodiaq’s 31,214 sales.
PSA Group has cited the current 5008 as a key model in driving profits at the Peugeot brand.
The segment was down 28 percent in the first half, a smaller decline than other mainstream SUV/crossover segments as small SUVs slipped 37 percent and compact crossovers fell 40 percent during the period.
