UK car dealership chain Inchcape on Wednesday named Unilever veteran and former finance chief of Dutch car leasing company LeasePlan Gijsbert de Zoeten as chief financial officer in place of Richard Howes.
Zoeten, who spent 27 years at Unilever, will assume the role on Sept. 1 as Howes moves on to become the finance chief at business supplies distributor Bunzl.
"We think that the timely appointment of a high caliber CFO with global B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) experience removes any concern around transition," Jefferies analysts said, calling Zoeten an excellent fit.
Zoeten's appointment comes months after Inchcape said it expects its half-year profit to be hurt by supply constraint hurdles in Australia and Ethiopia.
At LeasePlan Corporation, which was sold by Volkswagen Group in 2015, Zoeten was CFO until late last year when the company shelved its IPO plans.
Inchcape is No. 5 on Automotive News Europe's 2018 Guide to Europe's biggest dealers with total vehicle revenue of 4.83 billion euros in 2017. Click here to see full dealer group rankings.
