Volkswagen has appointed Martin Rosik, a veteran executive at the automaker, to head up human resources at the VW passenger-car brand.
FRANKFURT -- Volkswagen AG has appointed Martin Rosik, a veteran executive at the automaker, to head up human resources at the VW passenger brand. He started the new job July 1.
Rosik, 49, succeeds Jochen Schumm in taking responsibility for personnel matters relating to 260,000 employees worldwide. Schumm, 69, will assume a new role in the VW Group.
Rosik, who holds a degree in economics, worked in the area of human resources for both German firms ThyssenKrupp AG and Hochtief, before joining Volkswagen in 2003 as head of human resources at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, Germany.
Prior to moving to VW, he was the executive board member responsible for human resources at ThyssenKrupp Aufzuege. Earlier this year he moved to Volkswagen's headquarters in Wolfsburg.
Schumm began his career in human resources at Volkswagen in 1970 following a training as an industrial clerk. He was appointed member of the Seat executive committee with responsibility for human resources in 1994. In 1997, he became head of HR in Wolfsburg and was named chief negotiator of the Volkswagen collective bargaining commission. In 2008, he took up the position of head of human resources for the VW brand. Two years later, he was appointed a member of the board of management with responsibility for HR at Volkswagen commercial vehicles.
